Mihály Kerényi received his degree in film and television directing at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. By that time his decision by the profession was definite, in spite of his simultaneous inclination to become a musician. Nevertheless, most of his work as a director is strongly connected to classical music. His career in theatre began in Austria and the United States and he has staged operas and plays in Hungary, as well as in the US. He has worked in almost all fields of broadcasting, among those he lists opera films and numerous concert films.
